Revelation explained

Obeying the Messenger is obedience to Allah

The Sunnah explains prayer, zakat and Hajj and puts Quranic guidance into practice. The Quranic command cannot be separated from its prophetic explanation.

The Quran is recited as worship in its revealed wording and is inimitable. The Sunnah conveys revealed guidance and legislation; each has its own characteristics.

Respect and verification

Not every attribution is established

A statement attributed to the Prophet may be Sahih, Hasan, weak or fabricated. It may instead be a saying of a Companion or a piece of wisdom. Hadith scholarship examines these distinctions.

Identifying a defect in a report protects the Sunnah. Rejecting the authority of authentic Sunnah altogether is a different matter.
