A missing condition

Weakness has different causes and levels

A break, an unknown transmitter, poor memory or contradiction can cause weakness. It is inaccurate to call every weak report fabricated.

Scholars differ over limited use of mildly weak reports concerning virtues with an established basis and specified safeguards. Such reports do not establish new beliefs, acts of worship or obligations.

Quranic source

﴿وَلَا تَقُولُوا لِمَا تَصِفُ أَلْسِنَتُكُمُ الْكَذِبَ هَذَا حَلَالٌ وَهَذَا حَرَامٌ﴾

Quran 16:116Read the English meaning ↗

An invented attribution

Identify fabrication when mentioning it

A fabricated report is invented against the Messenger. It may be cited to warn people only when its false status is made clear.

The site’s teaching collection uses Sahih and Hasan reports. Weak material is discussed only when needed to correct an attribution and with its status explained.
